Groppi’s Grocery Store, officially known as G. Groppi Food Market, has a rich history in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood. It was established in 1913 by Giocondo and Giorgina Groppi, who opened a corner market to bring fresh produce to the community. The family lived in the back of the store, which was common at the time, while the front served as the market.

Over the years, the store has maintained its original charm and integrity, even as ownership changed hands. In 2003, John and Anne Nehring took over and expanded the store while preserving its historical essence. Recently, in January 2024, brothers Casey and Ryan Foltz purchased the market, continuing its legacy as a neighborhood staple.

Groppi’s is more than just a grocery store—it’s a community hub. In addition to providing just about all of your grocery staples, our Louie’s Coop bar provides a place for socializing, and our patio is enjoyed by many.
